Why a Second DLC Expansion for Master of Orion is Possible

Explaining why a second DLC expansion for Master of Orion Conquer the Stars may drop this year.

Following the launch of Master of Orion Conquer the Stars on August 25th, 2016, developer NGD Studios has been hard at work improving the game. On November 21st, the developers released a DLC announcement prepping Master of Orion players for new content. True to their word, on December 1st, Master of Orion players got an early Christmas present in the form of the game’s first DLC expansion, Revenge of Antares.

The Revenge of Antares DLC introduced three new races (Elerian, Trilarian, Gnolam) to the Master of Orion universe, while also bringing back the dastardly Antarans. Following the December release, many players questioned whether or not NGD Studios had plans to release a second DLC expansion for Master of Orion. Some players on the Master of Orion subreddit expressed disappointment with the Revenge of Antares DLC, stating that the DLC didn’t offer up enough content.

However, a key point to remember is that NGD Studios has been releasing regular patches and content updates to fine-tune and polish the game. They’ve even taken player feedback into account when making these fixes and changes. Plus, 4 months isn’t exactly a long wait for the game’s first DLC. With the 2017 calendar year looking bright for the world of gaming, it’s likely that Master of Orion players can expect a second, and perhaps even a third, DLC expansion release this year.

We believe that NGD Studios may be working on something substantial, which explains the waiting period between the game’s launch, the release of the first DLC expansion, and the imminent release of new content. It’s highly possible that the second DLC expansion will release for Master of Orion Conquer the Stars shortly before the summer of 2017 (4-5 months after Revenge of Antares released).

What do you think? Will NGD Studios release a second DLC expansion in 2017, and if so, what would you like to see included in it? Let us know in the comments below!
